How do I pre-populate checkboxes based on a picklist selection?

0

So we have a "Primary Area of Interest", which is a focus for what the client is most interested in. However, we also have a list of ALL of our technologies lower on the form.

How can we make it so that if they make a selection from the P.A.of Interest prepopulate (or check) it will map to one of the technologies listed in checkbox form?

Primary Area of Interest: [Picklist] -> Oranges

Technologies of Interest -

[ ] Pears

While allowing them to also pick other choices:

Subscription Management (Preference) Center Coding of "Accept" Button to Redirect to Main Website

I'm working with my Subscription Management center, and have entered the "Edit & Preview" option.

What I'm trying to do is have the "Accept >>" button on the bottom run a javascript that redirects to our main website. This would be in lieu of just having a message at the top saying "Your Subscription Status Has Changed".

Does anyone know how to enter a script so that when a contact clicks on the "Accept" button in the Subscription Management center, it will redirect you to the main website after telling you that it has taken your changes into account?

Needed - tips on designing e-mails for moving targets

0

Just read an article about consumers being moving targets - constantly switching between their phone, computer and tablet as they go about their day.

Does anyone have any practical tips on optimising/creating responsive e-mails across different devices? Minimum font size, size of call to action buttons etc. Alternatively, can anyone recommend a suitable agency in the UK.

It would be great if Eloqua 10 could accommodate a large text box field as a field merge

I believe we had this functionality in Eloqua 9, but does not work in E10.  We used this feature quite extensively as part of our ELMO tool for Sales. Any chance of getting it on the roadmap?

Eloqua or External forms

I am new to Eloqua, but just want a sort of virtual show of hands to help influence a particular decision...

Is it better to use the Eloqua form generator or better to use an external form? Which do you rate higher? Or is there very little difference?

SMS for Eloqua

We finally launched the SMS for Eloqua service! This awsome Cloud Connector solution allows Eloqua clients to optimise their communications towards the Mobile channel through a simple SMS integrated into the Program Builder step process.

SMS for Eloqua Webinar coming up on May 10th.

Reserve your Webinar seat now at:

https://www3.gotomeeting.com/register/249442446

Its been quite a challenge, from mid 2010 when one of Eloqua clients in UK approached us about potentially building the cloud connector for them. This specific client had been using SMS within its operations in the past but was bouncing between a 3rd party vendor and the bespoke developed SMS capability in Eloqua by Strike Iron. The client wasn't able to scale it up to the desired levels as well as they communicated they couldn't get the automation feature with 2 way SMS capability to work. Now they can, with 1/3 of the cost they used to have.

Dialogue Communications has 16 years of Bespoke Mobile developments and API connections, hence when the challenge presented itself to utilise the great Cloud Connector we went straight ahead and started typing the 1's and 0's. Now after 6 month of talks and development the service is live and available globally! Kudos to the Eloqua team that has given us support in the development process, and we are now continuing to evolve our partnership through coordinated activities. BTW - can't wait for the upcoming Eloqua Experience in London!

If you want to see the service in action, go to http://www.dialogue.net/sms-for-eloqua/ or drop me a line and I'll set up a web meeting/demo. Also you can download the attached training pack in this blog.

All the best,

Dan

So the virtual badges are a great community engagement tool, but what about something real - a Topliners backback, toy truck, drinks flask, mugs etc!  These could be awarded as you progress through the various thresholds or be available to buy (set up an ebay shop!)

Excuse the appalling photoshopping but you get the idea!  What other ideas folks??

How to save purchase history of the contact in eloqua

0
0

Can I store purchase history of the contact in eloqua, if yes how can I store them?

For ex one contact could have made more than one purchase in a year and brought many products.

I want to create an automated campaign if they have purchased a certain products few times and not purchased other products. For that, I want to segment the contacts based on their purchase history and values in other contact fields.

Please let me know if any use have done similar job?

MikeGarcia's Chocolate Factory - More uses for the cvp.aspx custom weblink

0
0

What is the CVP.aspx file?  More importantly, how can I use it for more that what it was designed for?

Although I was never given a formal definition by the development team, nor have I ever seen the code of that aspx file, I've come to learn that the cvp.aspx file is just a bunch of instructions that logs a user into Eloqua and redirects to the URL provided on the link.

Here's what I mean:

A typical custom weblink to Eloqua, the same one you put on the CRM for things such as "Add a Contact" "Unsubscribe a contact" or "View Lead History"; looks like this.

8-14-2013 8-55-35 AM.jpg

Breaking that down into its components, it's like this.

8-14-2013 9-06-37 AM.jpg

With that, you can keep everything but the URL constant and access any part of the Eloqua application.

Applications:

1.  Data Exports -- remember how annoying it is to setup a SFTP to have the Eloqua Data export module target?  With a CVP.aspx link, you can actually just grab that Eloqua generated report URL from the Data Export module and plug it in as the value of URL in the cvp.aspx weblink.  Imagine, you can have an API/webservice using that cvp.aspx link and it automatically accesses the report from Eloqua and uploads it into your external database!

8-14-2013 9-16-17 AM.jpg

2.  Prospect Profiler --- I'll just leave this here

8-14-2013 9-23-51 AM.jpg

3.  Pop-up reports... Any pop-up report you can get in Eloqua that has its unique URL.

8-14-2013 9-58-44 AM.jpg

Of course, access to parts of Eloqua are still determined by what security group you have the weblink user has.

I'm pretty sure there's a lot more applications with this so I leave it to you to come up with more.

How do you use custom data objects in Eloqua?

0
0

Customers ask all the time, “How can I use Custom Data Objects?” in my organization.  Here are examples of what is possible:

1.   Pull in campaign data from CRM and then score based on the data.

2.    Pull in usage data from trial products and then score and segment based on the data to send targeted communications.

3.    Store data from CRM such as products purchased or opportunity data.  Then segment on this data to send personalized, targeted messages.

4.    Store data from other systems for segmentation purposes

5.    Store survey data and pass that data to CRM (for example, Eloqua does this with our NPS survey we send to customers).

6.    Capture webinar attendance data from webinar cloud connectors.

7.   Capture information from other third party products such as Vidyard and Brainshark (video sharing companies) via Eloqua cloud connectors and use the data to segment and send targeted messages.

8.    Collect data from multiple web forms and store in a single location.

9.    Custom solutions to handle contacts that may share the same email addresses.

10. Other custom solutions where another data store is required.

Do you need an Eloqua Marketing Calendar?

0
0

I'm pleased to announce the Beta release of the Kapost Calendar App for Eloqua, the first editorial calendar available in a marketing automation tool. A calendar has long been the most requested feature by Eloqua users, which is why Kapost and Eloqua have teamed up to make it happen. With this free App, Eloqua users can view active and scheduled campaigns and emails in a simple calendar view. Instead of wondering whether an email went out on the right day, or trying to calculate when the third email in a new nurture campaign will be sent, users can get a clear visualization of the timing for all their Eloqua initiatives in one place. The Kapost Calendar App Beta is available to all Eloqua 10 users. Once installed, users will be able to: Understand at a glance the schedule for upcoming emails and campaigns View past campaigns and emails Predict the first send date of new emails Sort and color-code emails by campaign Open campaigns and emails directly from the calendar The Calendar App has two views: the Content View and the Campaign View. In the Content View, each sent or scheduled email is displayed on either a monthly, weekly, or daily basis. The Campaign View shows all active or scheduled campaigns by quarter and by month. The App is free for Eloqua users and available to download on the Eloqua AppCloud page (http://appcloud.eloqua.com/apps/kapost-calendar). You can also watch a video demonstrating the App's key features on the download page. If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know by responding to this discussion or by emailing support@kapost.com. Cheers, Keith

CRM On Demand Integration

Hello,

Has anyone integrated with Oracle's CRM On Demand or does anyone have any documentation around it?

I recently took part in the System Integration Eloqua University class and was told that there was a native CRM On Demand connector, however I've not been able to find any documentation for this

Thank you!

Jon

Let's write some code together

Hi everybody,

We're going to build an open source Rest client for the community of developers working with Eloqua's Bulk API. I was hoping to gather some feedback about the technology stacks we should start with. Here are some options and please let us know if there are any others we've missed. We'll likely choose more than one and we've already started work on a C# client, which is publicly available on Github. Please note that these libraries are not written or supported by Eloqua. Questions about these libraries can be directed to the author on Github or here on Topliners.

Thanks,

Fred

Chart of the Week: Should you take email advice from Wilson Pickett?

0
0

Let me take you behind the scenes a little bit. At Eloqua, we have been doing the Chart of the Week for a long time. Every week. In fact, this week is our 120th edition. Putting them together is always fun, but can be challenging. When we are putting the chart together, we almost always start with data. Sometimes, a ridiculous amount of it. Then, we come up with a thesis, and start tearing into the data. Sometimes it supports it, and sometimes it doesn't. But, we always learn something.

I did a fairly popular chart almost 2 years ago, looking at what day of the week is the best to send emails. It turns out that it’s the weekend. I wanted to drill in a little more, down to the hour. So, I requested a listing of email sends over the last 3 months, with the time of day as well as metrics (total sends/opens/click throughs). This amounted to just about 1.1 billion emails sents. And, that was only over random segment of customers.

So, after a long time trying to open the file (that’s a lot of data!) and get it formatted, I needed to determine my metrics. I decided I was going to look at the following:

  • Email Open Rate: (Email Opens)/(Emails Delivered)
  • Email Click Through Rate: (Email Click Throughs)/(Emails Delivered)
  • Click to Open: (Email Click Throughs)/(Email Opens)

COW Vol 120 2013-08-16.png
NOTE, this is done as a logarithmic scale. The outer ring represents 100%. The inner ring represents 10%

Now, the fun part, interpreting what it means. For emails that are sent during the day, the open rate is fairly constant. There is a improvement for those emails that are sent overnight. My assumptions are that those emails are either requests for information (such as form submissions) OR that they are being batched and read first thing in the morning.

The click through rate and the click to open rate actually mirror each other pretty closely (which is to be expected). The most interesting thing to note here is that the click to open rates are highest for emails sent between 6-9AM, as well as from about 11 to 3AM. The lowest appears at 1AM.

So, it looks like people are opening and digesting the contents of emails that are sent at off peak times. People aren't clicking through those emails. Most likely this is because if they do open it, at off peak hours, they are not in a position to follow through. If they are going through emails in the morning, people might be less likely to follow up on them because they have so many emails.

The last piece is for me to come up with article title, to get you guys to read it. So, if Wilson Pickett was to give advice on when the best time to send an email is? My bet, he would suggest in the midnight hour. Good thing he stuck to R&B...

So, that's it for my behind the scenes take. Tell me how I did in the comments!

How to Create Dynamic Redirects in Eloqua

0
0

Occasionally marketers need to pass dynamic fields (field merges) to a destination page from an Eloqua email.  While Eloqua supports this functionality, it does not however support tracking clickthroughs of links that contain field merges where the destination page isn't tracked by Eloqua.  This tutorial will show you how you can use a custom object, form, and a landing page with some custom Javascript to accomplish click through tracking for dynamic redirects that contain field merges.

When would I need this?

An example could be if you use a survey tool that requires a unique variable for each recipient.  You'd store the unique token on the contact record, and include it as a field merge in the hyperlink.  This works great, however you lose the ability to view the clickthroughs of that link.  This tutorial will show you how you can track when a user clicks the link, and have that link automatically go to the destination page while including any dynamic parameters you want to pass.

Part 1 - Watch the tutorial video

How to Create Dynamic Redirects in Eloqua Tutorial - YouTube

The easiest way to demonstrate the functionality was through video.  I recommend watching the tutorial in its entirety in full-screen mode (it'll be easier to read), and then continuing with some additional information below.

Part 2 - Form field names

The custom object and form fields will need to have the following names:

Note: The html name is only applicable to the form

Field

HTML Name

Data Type

Email Address

email

text

Dynamic Redirect Link

link

large text

Email Name

Link Title

Part 3 - The HTML/Javascript

<!DOCTYPE html><html><head>     <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"/>     <title>DocuSign</title>     <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.10.1.min.js"></script>     <script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">          $(function() {                    /*          ===          EDIT HERE          ===          */                    var elqPostUrl = "http://XXXX.t.eloqua.com/e/f2";          var elqSiteID = "123456789";          var elqFormName = "YourFormName";                    /*          ===          DO NOT EDIT BELOW THIS LINE          ===          */                    // Construct redirect          var get = get_query();          var redir = "";          var params = "?";          var url = "";          var vars = {};          for(var param in get){               if(param == "redir"){                    redir = get[param];               }else{                    if(get[param] == "undefined"){                         continue;                    }                    vars[param] = get[param];                    params += param + "=" + get[param] + "&";               }          }          params = params.substring(0,params.length - 1);          url = redir + params;                    // Validate required fields are present          if (redir == "" || vars.email == "" || vars.linkTitle == "" || vars.emailName == ""){               $('body').html("The following parameters are required:<br />redir<br />email<br />emailName<br />linkTitle");               return false;          }                    // Eloqua form details          var elq = {elqPostUrl: elqPostUrl, elqSiteID: elqSiteID, elqFormName: elqFormName, email: vars.email, link: url, emailName: vars.emailName, linkTitle: vars.linkTitle};                    // Post to Eloqua form for tracking          var posting = $.post(elq.elqPostUrl,elq,function(data){},"jsonp"); // using jsonp to ignore response          posting.always(function(data){                         // Redirect after form processes               $(location).attr('href',url);               });                              // Parse query strings          function get_query(){              var url = location.href;              var qs = url.substring(url.indexOf('?') + 1).split('&');              for(var i = 0, result = {}; i < qs.length; i++){                  qs[i] = qs[i].split('=');                  result[qs[i][0]] = decodeURIComponent(qs[i][1]);              }              return result;          }     });     </script></head><body></body></html>

Or download at: http://bit.ly/11Hv2hq

You will need to edit lines 18, 19, and 20 per the instructions in the video.

Part 4 - Sample hyperlink with field merges

http://your-domain/your-link?emailName=Dynamic Redirect Custom Link Example&linkTitle=Sample Link&redir=http://www.google.com&title=<span unselectable=on class=eloquaemail>Title1</span>&email=<span unselectable=on class=eloquaemail>EmailAddress</span>

This is an example link, you can add as many custom parameters and field merges as needed.  The custom landing page with the javascript is configured to automatically handle all parameters, log them to the custom object, and forward them to redirect page.

Conclusion

That's it!  This should work for any Eloqua environment, however, I highly recommend thoroughly testing this process each time you need to use.  Every system is a bit different, so extra testing doesn't hurt

Please post any questions or PM me if you need any help.

Cheers,

Ryan
