Here are the answers to some common Campaign Canvas questions received by Eloqua Support.
Effect of deactivating/reactivating campaigns
Deactivating and reactivating a campaign does not reset it. All contacts in the campaign will keep their positions and statuses. If contacts have flowed through a campaign and exited, they will not re-enter the campaign automatically upon deactivation/reactivation.
If you want to bring contacts back into a campaign—so that you can send them a follow-up email, for example—you will need to select Allow contacts to enter the campaign more than once in Campaign Settings and add a new Segment Members step (and optionally delete the old one).
Activating an incomplete campaign
You have a multi-stage campaign and only the assets/flow for the first stage have been designed. You want to activate this campaign immediately, but you don’t want the contacts to exit the campaign because it will be expanded eventually. Here’s how to do it:
- Add a Wait step to the end of the flow and set it to three months (or a sufficient duration to allow you to complete the campaign design).
- When the rest of the campaign is built, set the Wait step to a date in the past. Contacts will immediately start flowing through the next stage in the campaign.
Determining the path a contact followed through the campaign
There are a couple of options for determining the path through which a contact flowed in the campaign:
- View the Operational Reports for the campaign. The Campaign Entry Report gives the date and entry step information for all members of the campaign. The Campaign Exit Report gives similar information about how contacts exited the campaign. You access these reports from the gear menu on the Campaign Canvas.
- To view the detailed flow of a specific contact:
- Go to Contacts> Contacts and search for the contact’s name.
- Double-click the contact’s name in the search results.
- Click Activity Log.
- From the list box, choose Campaign Entry.
- Double-click the Campaign Name for which you want to view the contact’s path. The date, time, step name and details are provided for this contact.
