Last SFDC Campaign ID? Member Status Updated

So, we synch our Eloqua to SFDC on a 1:1 ratio.

There is a filter based program feeder that pushes in any Eloqua contact with activity into our CRM integration program on a daily basis.

As such, I've noticed that the last SFDC campaign ID is retained in the record, and on occasion will update the value for the "Member Status Updated" date against the SFDC record. Example: Lead engages with online promotion and is updated with the Last SFDC Campaign ID "asdf1234" in Jan:  Four months later, lead goes to website, and gets sucked into our "leads with activity" feeder and is sent to the CRM integration program. "The Member Status Updated" date gets marked with a May Date for the online promotion because the record still retains the Last SFDC Campaign ID of "asdf1234".

This is problematic - as we use this field to base when the lead last engaged with the particular campaign.

Do you guys have this issue? I'm kind of tired, might be over thinking this right now. LOL

Maybe you guys can play the devil's advocate for me here, would this be a solution?

1) Have Eloqua contacts, which fall into the activity based feeder (excluding forms, which attribute the Last SFDC Campaign ID), go into a copy of the CRM integration program, which excludes campaign update external call?

*all of our forms and uploads would be pointing to the CRM integration program w/ the campaign updates.

2) Alternatively, was thinking of clearing the last SFDC Campaign ID field (after copying the field value into another field for record purposes). For records inactive for x number of months or something.

Thanks,

Jen
