Activity Tracking (Email Activity) on Data Cards

Hello Topliners, and particularly Kristin Connell because I know how much she loves data cards!

 

Question for you - I have several programs that run off of data cards and have email send steps in them. We've done this because our contacts can have multiple accounts and/or cases associated to them and we want to be able to email them based on not only specific data card criteria, but also merge that specific criteria into the emails (account number, for instance). I need my sales reps and underwriting department to be able to see that these emails were sent and whether or not they were opened/clicked through. Is there a way to do this?

 

I was originally told that the "Send email to custom data object mapped entities" would ultimately send the email to the contact mapped to the data card instead, while keeping the data card merges in tact, allowing this activity to be seen in prospect profiler from the contact record. I've recently discovered this is not true and that, in fact, it pulls in the email address from the mapped entity, but still emails the data card, drastically lessening my reporting visibility.

 

It's important that our Sales Team know when these emails were sent and whether the recipient responded to them, but I don't want to lose the ability to merge data card specific information into the emails.
