Question: I am being prompted to re-authenticate my login credentials when attempting to login to Eloqua 9 or 10. Why?
Answer: You may be asked to re-authenticate to Eloqua on the login page if your device, network or part of the world is detected to be different from that which was used during your original authentication.
For example, if you have logged in to Eloqua on your laptop from your office in the United States but then travel to your office in France and login from a computer there, Eloqua detects the change and will prompt you to re-authenticate. This is a security measure that is put into place to protect your account from being compromised.
Once the system detects this change, the following is displayed:
Next, check your inbox for the Activation Link email. It will look similar to the following (if you are using a web-based email client):
Once you have verified your identity by successfully providing your Eloqua login credentials, the following dialog box is displayed:
Close that dialog box and you are able to continue to login using your normal Eloqua credentials.
This is a one-time authentication procedure each time Eloqua notices a change in your device, network or part of the world.
