Should Engage Mark Contacts as Invalid if their email is bad?

$

More Engage questions from me:). Can you tell I have a new rep using the product! It is great.

Anyways, my rep loaded a list into engage and there were several emails in the list that did not have names. After some investigation I saw that all of these people were marked as having invalid email address in Eloqua.  In my organization, when a email is deemed a hardbounce, it is removed from Eloqua and left in SFDC for manual intervention until a new email can be assigned.

My question is why didn't engage mark these people as having bad emails addresses? Shouldn't my rep be able to see that in the list of his bulk email send. Here are some screenshots:

engage.pngCapture.PNG

All of these people in the above list are invalid emails as you can see from the screenshot below:

Processing steps for 40+ "Checkboxes" to manage email group subscriptions, desired column look instead of single list

I am creating a custom subscription management page and have around 40 email groups I would like users to be able to manage their preferences on. I want the email groups in checkbox format and to be in multiple columns instead of one long list.

I am running into trouble. First I brought in all the email groups as single check box contact fields. This turns the page into a super long list of email groups - not desirable. I can set up the processing steps to make this work to subscribe or unsubscribe users to email groups, however, I want a more aesthetically pleasing look where the email group options would be in columns.

I am wanting a solution for the email group checkboxes to fall into columns. However, when I use the approach of adding a custom field group >> custom three column >> then uploading a pick list of all of the email groups, I cannot get the processing steps to allow for subscribes and unsubscribes. In the processing steps it looks like the whole entity checkboxes wants to match up with just one email group. I need the solution to allow for each email group under checkboxes to be able to map to a different email group in Eloqua and subsequently SFDC.

Can anyone help me out?

I want to be able to have my email group subscription textboxes in an aesthetically pleasing, multi-coloumn list instead of one long single item list. It is essential that the solution still allows for the processing steps to unsubscribe or subscribe users to that specific email group coordinating with the check box they either checked or unchecked.

What email d you have permission for in a Business Partner relationship?

This may not be a typical 'Imagine It' topic, but I wasn't sure where to post it otherwise and I did see some legal-related topics in this section.

So let's imagine, that you need to communicate with Business Partners of whome you do initially receive an email address to communicate with about business/relationship relevant topics and sometimes even legally-required information, such as product updates or portfolio phase ins/outs. However, at some point you find that this email address is not valid/used anymore and you do actually have another email address for that Business Partner contact.

But that business partner contact has not opted-in/subscribed using that email address.

Are you allowed to use that other (valid, but not opted-in) email address for your business partner relevant communications?

I am in doubt, because there is no specific opt-in for that new email address, but I think most laws do allow e-mail sending if there is an existing business relationship and the content of the email is relevant to that relationship.

Best regards

Roger

Support for SOAP is Ending

$

In October 2015, Oracle Eloqua will officially end support for the SOAP API.

Why?

With our first RESTful API release back in 2010, we committed to building out a new generation of APIs to interact with Oracle Eloqua. REST is an architectural style that provides flexibility, semantic design, and a consistent way to interface with the desired resources. RESTful APIs also use the existing standards of the HTTP protocol, rather than the SOAP protocol, making it a great choice for web-based applications.  Since 2010, we’ve continuously improved our RESTful APIs, while SOAP has remained in maintenance mode.

The time has come to announce to our development community that the future of our APIs lies with REST.  Deprecating the SOAP API will protect our developers from the disappointment that may come from building code on technology that we are not investing in going forward.

What does this mean for developers?

Existing integrations built on the SOAP API will continue to function as usual until October 2015.

After October 2015, the SOAP API will not be altered, even upon the discovery of a defect.  The support team will no longer provide assistance for SOAP API related issues.

Next steps:

Our current RESTful APIs (Application API, Bulk API, and the AppCloud Developer Framework) already provide most of the capabilities that are offered by the SOAP API.    We are committed to closing any significant gaps before deprecation in October 2015.

Developers should begin migrating their code to one of the RESTful APIs as soon as possible.

What are the plans for Oracle Eloqua APIs going forward?

We are excited to announce that our commitment to an open platform continues to expand. We are in the process of building  new versions of our existing RESTful APIs that will offer all of the existing functionality of the Oracle Eloqua APIs, as well as  new capabilities that have not been previously offered.

A new and improved documentation site was also recently launched, which will be the home for all of our API documentation going forward.  Find it HERE.

Interrogate Eloqua Contact Detail Page (in particular Activity Log) via API from a link on Salesforce.com

Hi all,

our objective is to have a button on SFDC on the contact detail page, which is sync with the contact in Eloqua, that after been pushed can pop-up the detail page of the contact in Eloqua (in the Activity Log Page as preferable).

The idea is to interrogate Eloqua via API passing the parameter for login and the ID of Salesforce Contact (which is registered in the Eloqua SFDC ContactID field).

Has anyone done something similar before?

Thanks,

Massimiliano

Hey,

In terms of bad reputation and best deliverability, What's better when sending out a campaign: "Send from" a sub-domain or from our real domain?

I'd like to hear what do you use when you send out marketing letters. What would you recommend? is it acceptable and recommended to revise the address of sender to our real domain?

Thanks!

Form Input Activity Tracking / Form Abandon Tracking

Hello,
Is it possible to capture an activity that a visitor inputs to a form but does not submit it?
This is a similer situation to that a visitor visits a landing page but does not submit a form on the landing page.

I am wondering if we can send an email and create dynamic contents based on the form abandon activity.

Has anyone tried to do this?

Thanks, Ai
